Project Youth has been an annual spring event for over 20 years. On the reading day before finals, nearly 1,000 sixth graders from Title-I schools throughout the Salt Lake area come to the University of Utah to experience college life. Volunteers act as mentors for a day by sharing their personal college experiences and taking a group of students on campus tours. Over 20 different University departments will be giving classroom presentations to excite sixth graders about college. The grade schoolers will also attend a motivational program presented by student and community leaders.
Volunteers may join the Project Youth planning committee, serve as an elementary school leader, or join more than 200 volunteers the day of the project. There is a one-hour orientation prior to the event. Project Youth runs from 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Please contact the Project Youth directors at firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up to volunteer or for more information.
