Earth Day Saturday Service Project
Thank you for signing up for the Earth Day Saturday Service Project. Earth Day will take place on Saturday, April 22nd from 9-12 with a lite breakfast and check-in from 8:30-9. We are fortunate enough to partner with Salt Lake City Parks and Open Space on the Purge Your Spurge event this year!
Myrtle Spurge is an escaped ornamental that quickly crowds native plants. Although it is touted as a deer resistant and extremely drought tolerant, it has escaped its original planting and is rapidly invading our foothills and wild lands along the Wasatch Front.
Due to the nature of the plant, it can cause skin irritation, redness, swelling or blisters. As a result children under 12 years old will not be allowed to participate in the project. Proper clothing and gloves provided are highly effective for avoiding contact.
Volunteers are required to wear long pants, closed toed shoes, and long sleeves.
Gloves, water, and snacks will be provided, and it is encouraged for individuals to bring a reusable water bottle, sunscreen, and a hat.
We are not able to take group registrations at this time, so please register members of your group individually.
Please note that the Salt Lake City Marathon will be taking place this morning, so please give yourself some extra time.
