2018 November Saturday Service Project | Hunger and Homelessness - Registration is now full!

Thanks for your interest in volunteering, registration for this project is now full. The Bennion Center Service Corner is always open if you want to drop in to work on a service project Monday - Friday 8 AM - 5 PM. Click here to learn about other volunteer opportunities.

Breakfast and check-in will take place from 8:30 AM - 9:00 AM at your service location.

There are seven (7) projects to choose from, with descriptions and more info below. Projects are open to all abilities and ages unless otherwise noted.

Project Options and Descriptions:

Bags to Beds

200 S. Central Campus Drive. Room 101. Salt Lake City, Utah 84112

Take recycled grocery bags and make them into sleeping mats for people experiencing homeless in the Salt Lake Valley

 

Crossroads Urban Center

347 S. 400 East. Salt Lake City, Utah 84111

Volunteers will be taking part in a deep cleaning of the facility in addition to putting together Thanksgiving bags for individuals and families in need of a meal.

 

Earth Community Garden and Food Pantry*

1102 W 400 N, Salt Lake City, UT 84116

Earth Community Garden and Food Pantry is working to restore a historical church into a community center and food pantry. Volunteers will assist in cleaning tasks and some renovation projects. Please wear closed-toed shoes and warm clothing.

*Must be 18 years of age to participate in this project.

 

Feed U Food Pantry

200 S. Central Campus Drive, Room 101, Salt Lake City, Utah 84112

Volunteers in this project will work with the University of Utah’s student, staff and, faculty food pantry through sorting and organizing donations and assembling hygiene kits.

 

The Inn Between

1216 E. 1300 S., Salt Lake City, Utah 84105

The Inn Between serves individuals experiencing homelessness through hospice services. This project will involve a deep clean of the facility and possible gardening and landscaping if weather permits.

 

Palmer Court

999 South Main Street, Salt Lake City, Utah 84111

Palmer Court is The Road Home's permanent supportive housing development. Residents at Palmer Court work closely with their team of case managers and volunteers to fully transition back into housing & our community. Volunteers in this project will assist in a deep cleaning of the facility and possible work in their kitchen and on-site food pantry.

 

Road Home

210 South Rio Grande Street. Salt Lake City, Utah 84101

The Road Home assists individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Salt Lake County and across the Wasatch Front. Volunteers in this project will assist the Road Home with donation sorting and possible cleaning projects. Please wear closed-toed shoes for this project.
