Legacy of Lowell - Saturday Service Project

Saturday, September 11th, 2021 - 9am to 12:30pm

Registration is now closed.

Thank you for your interest in the 18th annual Legacy of Lowell Saturday Service Project. Legacy of Lowell is an opportunity for the University of Utah and Salt Lake Community to come together to meet a variety of community identified needs through a single day of engagement. Our hope is that not only will we come together to meet those needs, but to help our volunteers find issues they are passionate about to engage on more of a long-term and committed basis.

Legacy of Lowell will take place on Saturday, September 11th from 9-12:30 unless otherwise stated in the individual project description.  Registration is required and some projects have age limits depending on the scope of the project. Group registration is not allowed at this time, so each individual must register independently. We ask that you only register if you plan on attending. We acknowledge that things come up, but some hardship can occur if we don’t have the volunteers we need.

Please note that this year we have categorized our projects in three categories:

  • On Campus
  • Off Campus
  • Self Directed

The University of Utah and the Bennion Center acknowledge that we are still facing the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many projects and community partners we work with will still require the wearing of face coverings during the projects despite the vaccination status of the volunteer. We ask that all volunteers wear a face covering to their projects. Additional information will be provided on site as to whether or not a face covering must remain on during the project.  We will honor the choice of someone to wear a face covering even if the specific project does not require it. Additionally, a pre-health assessment will be sent to all volunteers before the project. If you have any symptoms the morning of the project, we ask that you remain home.

Additionally, Legacy of Lowell takes place on the 20th anniversary of the September 11th attacks on the United States. As one way to honor the military members who responded to the attacks that day, we encourage people to support Alpha Coffee. Alpha Coffee is a veteran and military-spouse co-owned and operated company dedicated to offering their customers amazing coffee, promoting the warrior lifestyle, providing the highest levels of service, and giving back to the military and veterans. You can support the Coffee for Troops project by visiting Alpha Coffee, ordering online, or donating directly on their website. Please mention the U of U Alumni Association Legacy of Lowell project if you visit Alpha Coffee.

For any questions or clarifications about Legacy of Lowell, please contact Bryce Williams, Senior Programs Manager at Bryce.williams@utah.edu or 801-581-4811.
