Stories From Our Students: Meet Melissa
Hi there! My name is Melissa Regalado, and I am a second-year student at the University
of Utah. This year, I will be managing the social media content for Alternative Breaks
for the Bennion Center. These trips are a great opportunity for students to become
involved in and serve their community while engaging with issues they care about.
Currently, I am pursuing an honors bachelor’s degree in communications, focusing on
marketing through combining social media and graphic design. Having lived in Utah
for most of my life made me decide to attend the University of Utah because of the
diversity, its welcoming environment for immigrants, and numerous resources for first-generation
students. Aside from working with the Bennion Center, I am also involved with the
New Student and Family Programs as a Swoop Camp Captain, the Beacon Scholars program,
the Honors College Ambassador program, and Housing and Residential Education. This
past year, I participated in some Saturday Service projects hosted by the Bennion
Center, and when I found out that they had an opportunity to manage social media while
serving the community, I decided join them for the upcoming year to actively promote
the importance of the Bennion Center’s role on campus and in the community. This semester,
I will have the opportunity to represent the Bennion Center as a student leader on
the Communications Team and I am excited to inform students at The University of Utah
of the many doors that being involved with the Bennion Center can open to enhance
their college experience!
