Stories From Our Students: Meet Melissa

Hi! My name is Kate Button, and I am a sophomore here at the University of Utah. This year, I will be the Social Media Content Manager for the Bennion Center, which basically means that I will be overseeing all of the content that is posted to the Bennion Center’s social media platforms.

Currently, I am pursuing an honors bachelor’s degree in English, and I am planning on completing a Spanish minor, and I might also purse a Philosophy minor. As a native of Salt Lake City, I decided to attend the University of Utah because of the countless resources, departments, and activities here on campus.

In addition to my work with the Bennion Center, I am also involved with the Alpha Chi Omega sorority, the Honors Student Advisory Committee, the Honors ACME Scholars Group, the Daily Utah Chronicle, and I work at the Campus Store. Also, during the Summer semester, I completed a local Hinckley internship with UN Women Utah.

I first found out about the Bennion Center during my New Student Orientation. After hearing people talk about the Bennion Center a couple times, I decided that I should check it out! As I attended Saturday Service Projects, I kept meeting so many kind and caring individuals, and, ultimately, I decided the Bennion Center was a community I wanted to join.

Last semester, I had the opportunity to serve as a Student Blogger on the Communications Team. I loved learning about the Bennion Center and applying my writing skills to help share wonderful opportunities with University of Utah students. I am so excited to be working with the Bennion Center again this year!
