6 Credit Hours of Service-Learning Coursework
As a Service-Learning Scholar, students can fulfill the requirement of 6 credit hours of coursework by taking designated Service-Learning classes or by creating an individual Service-Learning class with your professor. Any prior Service-Learning credits may be applied to the Program requirements.
Designated Service Learning Classes:
In order to receive credit, the class must have an SL designation in the Course Attributes column of the online course catalog. All official classes do have this designation. In order to receive the service-learning designation, classes must meet nine criteria that ensure students will have an opportunity to learn through active engagement in the community and classroom work.

Creating an Individual Service-Learning Class:
You are allowed to create a Service-Learning class from a class you will or currently enrolled in. You must submit an individual Service-Learning Course proposal with the syllabus attached within the first two weeks of the semester. This must be approved by your professor, community partner and Bennion Center Service-Learning Coordinator.
