Community Parternships

If you are interested in partnering with the Bennion Center, please attend one of our BC 101: Bennion Center Orientations. They are held the first Tuesday of each month from 9-10 AM in the Bennion Center. Click here for more information. Please RSVP online here.

Partnerships define the Bennion Center. Partnerships put a face on the abstract and complex issues that challenge society. Working directly with others to address those challenges forges meaningful relationships. Community Partners might want to work with the Bennion Center through Student-Directed Programs or through Service-Learning Classes.

Student-Directed Programs

The Bennion Center seeks partnerships with agencies that provide meaningful learning opportunities for university volunteers. Each partnership is facilitated by a student program director who acts as a liaison between the agency and the university, assists in the recruitment and training of volunteers, and provides opportunities for critical reflection for all involved.

Student program directors receive training from the Bennion Center, as well as the partner agency. Once a partnership project is accepted as a part of our Student-Directed Programs, that program continues year to year as long as it continues to meet the agency partner and Center’s needs and goals.

To be considered, you need to fill out the New Program Proposal Application. Please submit the above application and a short proposal addressing each of the attached questions and guidelines to Gina Russo at grusso@sa.utah.edu. With questions about opportunities with the Student-Directed Programs, contact Gina at grusso@sa.utah.edu.

Service-Learning Classes

Another method to obtain student resources to further your organizational mission is through the service-learning program. Working with a service-learning class provides agencies with fresh student perspectives, campus resources and support, and an avenue through which agencies can affect student’s understanding of community needs and their role as agents of change.
